To provide a better platform for students seeking higher education opportunities abroad, the Karnataka government is organising the Study Abroad Expo 2026 at Palace Grounds in Bengaluru on September 6. Around 75 global universities will participate in the expo under one roof.
Minister for Medical Education and Skill Development, Entrepreneurship and Livelihood Sharan Prakash Patil announced this at a press conference on Tuesday (August 25, 2026) and said, “As many as 60 universities from countries such as the United Kingdom, Australia, the United States, Ireland, Finland and Italy have come forward to participate in the expo. A few more universities are expected to register soon. Meanwhile, students can begin registering online through our portal, studyabroad.ksdckarnataka.com. They can also register offline on the day of the expo to participate.”
Ministers’ meeting
He also announced that the State government would organise a conclave of Education Ministers and department officials from other States. “We have passed resolutions in the Assembly and the Legislative Council urging the Centre to scrap NEET and allow the State to use the Common Entrance Test (CET) for medical admissions. However, there has been no response from the Centre so far. A conclave on the issue will be held, following which we will submit recommendations to the Central government and explore alternatives to the NEET examination,” he said.
