Minister for Women and Child Development, Labour, Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development, Bindu Krishna, has called upon the student community to become active participants in the fight against the drug mafia, which is attempting to destroy society. She was presiding over the distribution ceremony of the ‘Focus Kollam’ Minister’s Excellence Award-2026, organised for talented students from the Kollam constituency.

The Minister said that a clear sense of purpose is essential for students to build a bright future and added that the government will establish new educational institutions and create better employment opportunities for the next generation to ensure the comprehensive development of the State.

Inaugurating the event, Shafi Parambil MP said that students must move toward their future with well-defined goals in mind. He added that the government is always there to give wings to the dreams of students and provide them with maximum support.

The event honoured top achievers, including students who secured full A-Plus in the SSLC and Plus Two examinations, as well as those who scored full A1 or above 90% marks in the Class 10 and Class 12 CBSE and ICSE exams. Rank holders in Degree, Post Graduate (PG), and other professional examinations were also felicitated during the event. Ramya Haridas MLA was the chief guest while Mayor N.K. Hafees, District Collector Annie Jula Thomas, and deputy Mayor Udaya Sukumaran were among those who spoke at the gathering.
