The State government on Friday issued a notification on the formation of the Greater Mysuru City Corporation by declaring an expanded jurisdiction of the Mysuru City Municipal Corporation as a larger urban area.

According to the notification, the Greater Mysuru City Corporation will cover a total area of 341.44 sq. km. The proposed limits include the existing Mysuru City Municipal Corporation, Hootagalli City Municipal Council, and the town panchayats of Srirampura, Bogadi, Rammanahalli and Kadakola.

The expansion includes Chamundi Hills Gram Panchayat and several villages under surrounding gram panchayats. These comprise Alanahalli and Lalithadripura (Alanahalli GP); Siddalingapura, Belavatha, Kesare and Metagalli (Siddalingapura GP); Yelwala, Karakanahalli, Maidanahalli and Megalapura (Yelwala GP); Dhanagalli, Yadahalli, Kenchalagudu, Halalu and Kote Hundi (Dhanagalli GP); Mallahalli–Beerihundi, Gohalli, Kumarabeedu and Ballahalli (Beerihundi GP); Shyadanahalli (Nagawala GP); and Nagawala, Bommanahalli and Huilalu villages (Nagawala GP).

The notification has invited the public to submit objections or suggestions, if any, with valid reasons in writing to the Director, Directorate of Municipal Administration, Bengaluru, within 30 days from the date of publication of the notification in the official gazette. The notification was published on January 8 in the official gazette.

The proposal will be taken up for final consideration after the stipulated 30-day period, the notification said.
