Minister for Minor Irrigation and Science and Technology Ajay Singh affirmed that the Karnataka government has prioritised the overall development of the Kalyan Karnataka region, focusing on basic infrastructure, education, and the strengthening of the healthcare sector.
Addressing the public after hoisting the national flag in Raichur to mark Kalyan Karnataka Utsav Day, Dr. Singh, who is also the district in-charge Minister of Raichur, highlighted significant budgetary allocations for key sectors across the region.

Outlining major development initiatives, the Minister noted that under the Akshara Avishkara scheme, ₹2,202.81 crore has been earmarked to transform educational infrastructure. Additionally, 34 new residential schools are set to be established.
He also said that infrastructure development has received an allocation of ₹2,170.46 crore, alongside ₹1,000 crore dedicated to rural road construction under the ‘Kalyan Path’ program. Praja Soudha buildings would also be constructed in newly formed taluks.
With regard to health care, Dr. Singh said Infrastructure across health services is being expanded through the sanctioning of 32 fully equipped ambulances and the upgrading of local hospitals. Strengthening technical and medical education institutions remains a top priority, he said.
Speaking about irrigation and water conservation, the Minister said ₹425 crore has been set aside for minor irrigation projects and lake rejuvenation, alongside dedicated schemes aimed at recharging underground water tables.
To address regional disparities systematically, Dr. Singh announced steps to establish a Planning, Policy, and Data Analytics Wing. This wing would formulate long-term projects and schemes based on the comprehensive Regional Imbalance Report covering the period from 2026 to 2031, he said.
The Minister emphasised that the government is committed to ensuring every family in the Kalyan Karnataka region directly benefits from these development programmes.
