DMK president M.K. Stalin on Saturday (October 31, 2026) said Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay should heed the wake-up call given by the DMK’s women’s wing, which organised a demonstration highlighting the deteriorating law and order situation and spiralling prices of essential commodities.

“The women have rung the bell. The government, which is hunting down its critics and preparing for a show in the byelection, should pay attention to governance,” he said in a social media post.

He said the poor in the State were groping in the dark in the wake of an unprecedented rise in the prices of essential commodities. “Women are angry over the steep hike in electricity bills and the prices of provisions,” he said.

Mr. Stalin said the law-and-order situation in the State had become a cause for concern and crimes against women were increasing day by day. “Women are afraid to send their children out even to play,” he said.
