Union Minister of State for Communications and Rural Development Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar has asked officials to speed up the execution of Central government construction projects in Amaravati, describing them as historic works that would significantly contribute to the development of Andhra Pradesh’s capital.

The Minister reviewed the progress of projects during a meeting with Central Public Works Department (CPWD) Chief Engineer C.N. Suresh and Superintending Engineer Srinivas at his camp office in Guntur on Friday (July 24, 2026). Discussions focused on project implementation, tender schedules and construction timelines.

Officials told the Minister that the Central Government General Pool Office Accommodation (CGGPOA) project at Rayapudi village would be taken up at an estimated cost of ₹1,299 crore over 5.53 acres, providing 2,16,032 sq m of built-up area. Tenders are expected in the first week of September. The complex will comprise one G+13 block and another G+10 block, accommodating nearly 8,000 Central government employees.

The General Pool Residential Accommodation (GPRA) project at Inavolu village, estimated at ₹1,235 crore, will be developed across 17 acres with 11 towers housing 1,504 residential units. Tenders are scheduled for the first week of August. Both projects are targeted for completion by February 2029 and will conform to GRIHA 4-Star green building standards.

Officials also told the Minister that the IGNOU building was ready for inauguration. Buildings for Bank of Baroda, Punjab National Bank, IDBI Bank and Canara Bank are expected by January 2028, while NABARD and Bank of India projects will begin shortly. The Comptroller and Auditor General office, Videsh Bhavan (Regional Passport Office) and New India Assurance building are scheduled for completion by July 2028.

Mr. Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar assured officials of full support in resolving implementation issues and promised round-the-clock assistance to ensure smooth coordination between the Centre and the State for timely completion of all projects.
