A video clip of ex-BJP MLA Vijugouda Patil’s son and his aides allegedly assaulting toll booth staff in Vijayapura district, in Karnataka, has gone viral on social media. According to police, the toll booth staff has not filed a complaint yet.

The reported incident took place at the toll booth near Kannoli in Sindgi taluk on the Vijayapura- Sindhi stretch on October 30.

According to sources, ex-MLA and BJP leader Vijugouda Patil’s son Samarthgouda Patil was travelling towards Sindgi in his four-wheeler when toll staff asked him to pay the poll.

Mr Samarthgouda reportedly told the toll booth staff that that he is the son of Vijugouda Patil.

However, the toll staff reportedly told him that he was not aware of any Vijugouda.

Offended by the reply, Samarthgouda and his aides got down from their vehicle, allegedly abused the toll staff and assaulted him. The other toll staff intervened to resolve the matter.

One toll staff Sangappa, who reportedly suffered injuries, was treated at Sindgi taluk hospital.

The toll staff has not filed a complaint yet.

When contacted, Superintendent of Police of Vijayapura district Laxman Nimbargi told The Hindu that so far they had not received any complaint in this regard by either the staff or official of the toll booth.
