Six new judges assume office at Karnataka High Court

The number of judges of the High Court of Karnataka has increased to 54 with six newly appointed additional judges assuming office. The new judges are Justices Raghavendra S. Srivatsa, Hema Kulkarni, Subramanya R., T.P. Vivekananda, B. Pramod and H. Shanthi Bhushan.

Born on April 19, 1976, in Chickballapur, Justice Srivatsa secured his law degree from University Law College, Bengaluru, and a postgraduate Diploma in Cyber Laws from the Indian Law Institute, New Delhi. After enrolling as an advocate in 1999, he practised in Chickballapur courts and the High Court of Karnataka. He later moved to the Supreme Court as an advocate-on-record and was designated a senior advocate by the apex court in January 2024.

Justice Kulkarni, born on July 10, 1976, hails from Sedam in Kalaburagi district. She secured third rank in her law degree from Gulbarga University and later obtained a postgraduate degree in law from Nagarjuna University. After enrolling as an advocate in 1999, she practised in the courts of Kalaburagi and the High Court and served as a panel advocate for the Enforcement Directorate and the Department of Posts, among others.

Born on March 27, 1975, in Sira, Tumakuru district, Justice Subramanya completed his BCom and LLB in Bengaluru and enrolled as an advocate in 1999. He was conferred the Kempegowda Award in 2014 for his contributions to the field of law. He served as the State’s Additional Advocate General in 2019.

Justice Vivekananda, born on May 5, 1977, in Hittavalli village of T. Narasipur taluk in Mysuru district, completed his BA and LLB degrees in Mandya and commenced practice as an advocate in 2000. He served as panel counsel for the Urban Development Authorities of Mysuru, Mandya, Kolar and Tumakuru, the Karnataka State Small Scale Industries Development Corporation, and other public bodies.

Born on May 13, 1977, Justice Pramod completed his law degree from University Law College, Bengaluru, and enrolled as an advocate in 2000. He served as panel counsel for the Central government and various public sector bodies, including the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd., and Bangalore University.

Justice Bhushan, born on August 15, 1977, in Mandya district, completed his law degree in Bengaluru and an LL.M. from Kuvempu University, and enrolled as an advocate in 2005. He served as panel counsel for the Karnataka Public Service Commission, Bangalore Electricity Supply Company, Canara Bank and other public sector organisations. Prior to his elevation, he was serving as the Deputy Solicitor General of India for the High Court of Karnataka.
