The Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating the alleged custodial death of Gade Sai Krishna (25) found that head constable P. Ashok had reportedly sent a gym trainer to Goa with the mobile phone of Sai Krishna.

The SIT, headed by Inspector General of Police (IGP) M. Ravi Prakash, verified the call data recordings of accused Circle Inspector (CI) S.S.V.V. Nagaraju and the four constables who were in judicial custody.

Investigating officers listed out the persons with whom the suspended CI, constables P. Ashok, K. Babu Rao, G. Sambaiah and J. Nani, spoke from May 5 to the end of the month.

Police verified the new numbers, repeated calls, call durations and the phone numbers that the accused and the suspects spoke during night hours. They also checked the social media groups used by the accused.

Gym trainer sent to Goa

During investigation, it was revealed that constable Ashok had reportedly sent his gym trainer Sushanth for a trip to Goa and asked the latter to carry Sai Krishna’s mobile phone with him.

According to the investigating officers, the accused allegedly planned a conspiracy and attempted to create a story that the deceased had escaped from police custody and travelled to Goa, where his mobile phone signals were traced.

The SIT officials who gathered the details about Sushant’s Goa trip, including the hotel he checked into and other particulars, were also inquiring whether the gym trainer made any calls from Sai Krishna’s phone while in Goa.

The police who questioned the friends of the accused CI and the constables also questioned the gym trainer and recorded his statement. The gym trainer reportedly confessed that the police constable had given him a mobile phone, which he carried to Goa.
