Amidst the rebellion in the Trinamool Congress, signatures of Lok Sabha MPs who want to make a separate block and support BJP- led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government at the Centre came out in the public domain on Friday (June 12, 2026).

While the contents of the letter sent by the rebel Trinamool MPs to Lok Sabha Speaker is still not out, there are signatures of 19 MPs which were making rounds on social media during the day.

Among the rebel MPs, the significant names are actor turned parliamentarian Saayoni Ghosh representing Jadavpur Lok Sabha seat, Deepak Adhikari (Dev) from Ghatal, Satabdi Roy from Birbhum, Rachana Banerjee from Hooghly, June Malia from Medinipur. While Saayoni Ghosh, Rachana Banerjee and June Malia are first time MPs, Satabdi Roy from Birbhum is a four- time MP representing her seat from 2009 and Dipak Adhikari alias Dev is a three -time MP from Ghatal since 2014. Trinamool Congress chairperson Mamata Banerjee has been fond of giving tickets to prominent actors from Bengali film industry.

Old loyalists of Trinamool Congress like Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar a four-time MP, Mala Roy a three-time MP who have been with the party and Mamata Banerjee since its early days is said to be leading the rebellion and her name has been referred as Chief Whip in the purported letter and Satabdi Roy as the Deputy Leader.

The other first time MPs among the list of rebels are Mathurapur MP Bapi Halder, Burdwan East MP Sharmila Sarkar, Cooch Behar MP Jagadish Verma Basunia.

MPs from Muslim dominated Murshidabad district which includes first time MP and former cricketer Yusuf Pathan and Khalilur Rahaman a two-time MP from Jangipur, Abu Taher Khan a two-time MP from Murshidabad also among the list of rebels.

Trinamool rebel MPs to meet the Speaker on Monday

While the rebel Trinamool MPs have already sent a representation to the Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla, they are likely to meet him on Monday (June 15, 2026).

Meanwhile, Abu Taher Khan, the MP from Murshidabad, was part of an administrative meeting with CM Suvendu Adhikari on Friday in Malda and said that people should not comment on the new Chief Minister without giving him time to work

“People have given a verdict to Suvendu Adhikari, we cannot discard the people’s verdict. People of Bengal have entrusted him with the State’s responsibility. We will see how he shows the right path for Bengal… We need to give him time before passing judgements,” Mr. Khan said, expressing support to the BJP Chief Minister.

Mr. Adhikari on the other hand has refused to make any remarks on 19 of the 29 MPs of the Trinamool Congress changing their loyalties. “I have no information about any such development,” Mr. Adhikari said when asked about the rebellion of 19 Lok Sabha MPs of Trinamool Congress.

Birbhum MP Satabdi Roy refuted reports that the rebel faction does not have enough numbers. “19 of us signed and submitted it to the Speaker, now the letter has come out and it has been proved,” Ms. Roy told a Bengali news channel.

The veteran Trinamool MP said that “even those who have not joined the rebel factions are curious as to what steps we are taking”. The Mamata Banerjee loyalists include MPs like Mahua Moitra, Kirti Azad Shatrughan Sinha, Sougata Roy and Kalyan Banerjee. The total number of Trinamool Congress MP in Lok Sabha is 29 and 19 MPs comprise two-thirds of the strength of its MPs.

The defeat in the West Bengal Assembly polls 2026, has triggered a rebellion in the MLAs and MP of the 28 -year-old party. About 60 of the 80 MLAs have already tried to distance from the party leadership by electing a Leader of Opposition, against the wishes of Mamata Banerjee.
