New Delhi:
The Supreme Court on Tuesday, July 14, dismissed a petition challenging the approval granted for the renovation of Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan’s Mumbai house, Mannat. Mannat, one of Mumbai’s most recognisable landmarks, is home to Shah Rukh Khan and his family and frequently draws fans from across the country.
Details of the plea against renovation work in SRK’s Mannat
The plea had been filed by a Mumbai resident, who questioned the permissions granted for the renovation of the actor’s sea-facing bungalow in Bandra.
During the hearing, the apex court also expressed doubts about the petitioner’s intent. The bench observed that, at first glance, the motive behind filing the plea appeared questionable.
Finding no merit in the case, the Supreme Court dismissed the petition. The court did not impose any stay on the renovation, allowing the approved work at Mannat to continue.
SRK and family have temporarily moved out of Mannat
Shah Rukh Khan, along with his wife Gauri Khan and their children Aryan, Suhana and AbRam, has temporarily moved to a luxury apartment building in Mumbai’s Pali Hill area as renovation work continues at Mannat. As per reports, the actor has leased four floors of the building from film producer Vashu Bhagnani.
Did you know Mannat is considered a heritage property?
Mannat, Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan’s iconic sea-facing home in Mumbai’s Bandra West, is one of the city’s most recognisable landmarks. Located along the famous Bandstand promenade, the Grade III heritage property was originally built in 1914 and was known as Villa Vienna. Shah Rukh bought the bungalow in 2001 and later renamed it Mannat, a word that means a heartfelt wish or prayer.
Spread over nearly 27,000 square feet, the property features a heritage-style façade along with a modern six-storey annexe. Estimated to be worth around Rs 200 crore, Mannat is among the country’s most expensive celebrity homes.
The interiors were designed by Gauri Khan with architect Kaif Faquih. The home includes spacious living areas, a library, a gym, a swimming pool, a private theatre, multiple elevators and several elegantly designed bedrooms.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Shah Rukh Khan will be seen in King. The film will release in December 24, 2026.
