A seven-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 59-year-old person in a village of Buggaram mandal in Jagtial district over a week ago.

The ghastly crime came to light on Thursday following a complaint lodged by the mother of the victim at Buggaram police station.

According to sources, the accused allegedly whisked away the girl to his house while she was playing with other children in the same locality, where he raped her.

The gruesome incident sparked outrage and demands for stringent action against the accused.

The Buggaram police registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and launched a search to nab the accused.
