Delhi Police has summoned the bomb disposal squad to the Red Fort area, following a threat call received at the Mumbai police control room, sources said.

As per sources, a bomb threat call was received at the Mumbai police control room, which was forwarded to the Delhi Police control room.

However, after an extensive search of the premises, the threat was declared a hoax, they said.

“Security had already been beefed up in the light of the upcoming Independence Day. Following the threat, as per protocol, the bomb disposal squad and the bomb squad were called, and anti-sabotage checks were made. The premises were thoroughly scanned and nothing suspicious was found. The bomb threat has now been declared hoax,” a senior police official said.

Efforts are underway to identify the caller and ascertain the motive behind issuing the fake threat, they said.
