The second phase of development work under the Central government’s Amrut Bharat project, covering the second platform, is in full swing at Feroke railway station. As part of the ongoing renovation, a major portion of the existing 536-metre platform is being slightly elevated.

According to railway officials, all possible preventive measures will be adopted to prevent slip-and-fall incidents once the platform development work is completed. The government will spend ₹2.25 crore on this phase, they add.

The second phase also includes the extension of the existing parking area, construction of a portico, installation of additional ornamental lights, and completion of the remaining landscaping works. A majority of these works have already been completed.

In the first phase, the length of the second platform was extended by 186 metres. The extension was approved following demands raised by various rail passengers’ associations.

On completion of the second phase, proposals for improved comfort station facilities and automatic ticket vending options near the second platform will be considered. Officials say efforts are underway to secure final approval.

The first phase of development work, undertaken at a cost of ₹7.58 crore, revamped all major amenities at the railway station. Modern ticket booking counters, lift services, air-conditioned waiting rooms, display boards, ornamental lights, charging points, and parking facilities were among the new additions.
