A whopping 14 lakh cusecs of flood water is being let into Bay of Bengal as Godavari flood level touches the second flood warning level at Sir Arthur Cotton Barrage at Dowleswaram in East Godavari district. Barely 8,400 cusecs of flood water is being released into the Godavari delta.

Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema District Collector R. Mahesh Kumar told The Hindu, “We have intensified relief operations as per the flood protocol for the second flood warning”. Boats and SDRF and NDRF personnel have also been deployed in the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema District.

In Chintoor agency in Polavaram district, the evacuation operation is in full swing and 118 relief camps are ready to tackle the flood in the Sabari and Godavari rivers.

“We are distributing commodities to the affected people. At least 10,000 mosquito nets are ready for distribution and 9,000 nets will be made available by Sunday evening”, Chintoor Integrated Tribal Development Agency Project Officer told The Hindu.
