The Karnataka State Election Commission (SEC) has fixed March 30 as the date for the publication of the final ward-wise voters list for the five city corporations under the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA).

In a revised circular issued on January 22, the Commission laid down the schedule for finalising the electoral rolls. The circular clarifies that the ward-wise voters’ list for the five corporations will be prepared by adopting the existing Assembly electoral rolls, without conducting a fresh enumeration.

The Commission has mandated 100% verification of the voter lists by Voter Registration Officers, who must submit a verification letter to the SEC. In addition to this, District Election Officers and Commissioners of the respective corporations are required to independently verify 10% of the ward-wise voter lists and submit certification to the Commission.

Meanwhile, addressing officials at a meeting on Saturday, GBA Chief Commissioner M. Maheshwar Rao directed that the voter list preparation process be carried out in accordance with the rules and in a transparent manner. Referring to the revised circular issued by the SEC, he stressed that election-related work must be conducted responsibly and systematically.

Mr. Rao instructed officials to inspect ward boundaries to avoid confusion and directed Electoral Registration Officers to dedicate two to three hours daily exclusively to election-related duties. Booth Level Officers were asked to conduct door-to-door verification for inclusion, correction, and deletion of names, ensuring proper documentation.
