‘Sankranti Sambaralu’ to be organised in NTR District during harvest festival

Officials will organise ‘Sankranti Sambaralu’ to promote tradition and culture during harvest festival in NTR district.

As part of Sambaralu, bull show, flower show, well baby show for babies enrolled in anganwadi centres, kite festival, rangoli competitions, ethnic food festival for Development of Women and Children in Rural Areas(DWRCA) women, Bommarillu and other competitions will be organised, said Collector G. Lakshmisha, on Monday.

“The theme of Sankranti Sambaralu is to encourage farmers, DWRCA and anganwadi women, protect the disappearing art and tradition by organising Gangireddulu and bull show,” the Collector said. All the temples and tourist spots will be decked up for the harvest festival. Officials of various departments will make all arrangements for Sankranti Sambaralu, the Collector told the media on Monday.

To promote tourism, Andhra Taxi App will be launched on January 1. Tourists can visit the tourist spots by paying ₹700 and guides will be arranged as per their choice. Guides will show Durga temple, Kondapalli Fort, Butterfly Park, Old Shivalayam, Pavitra Sangamam and other places.

Ethnic food festival, seafood mela and play areas will be arranged at the tourist places to enthral the public. Transportation, electrification, drinking water and other facilities will be provided for the tourists visiting the places, Mr. Lakshmisha said.

“We are also planning to cover green cover in the district by improving landscapes, plantations, developing parks islands. At present, the green cover in the district is 25 per cent, and plans are afoot to develop greenery to 35 per cent,” the Collector said.

The district administration will soon open food parks and industries at Jaggaiahpet, Mylavaram and other places. Steps are being taken to develop Ambedkar Smrithi Vanam and the park will be opened for the public soon, the Collector added.
