The Bhagavad Ramanujar Thennacharya Sampradaya Sabha (BRTSS), an assembly of hereditary Acharyas and Jeeyars of the 74 lineages established by Saint Ramanuja, was formed at an event organised at Kamaraj Memorial Hall here on Sunday.

The assembly aims at uniting various traditional mutts and thirumaligais under the continuum of Ramanuja’s vision.

Americai V. Narayanan, convener of the organisation, said that over the centuries, these Acharyas of Sri Ramanuja’s 74 Simhasanadhipati lineages have guided devotees individually. “It is with great effort that they have been brought together. This organisation will act as a bridge among those who follow the Thenkalai sect within Sri Vaishnavites, and between those from other faiths, he said.

Apart from video recordings of Acharyas who could not make it to the event, spiritual discourses were presented by Venkatesh on Ramanuja and M.A. Venkatakrishnan on Embar Swamy, his prime disciple.

Pradhivadhi Bhayankaram Annangarachar Swami and orator Akkarakani Srinidhi Swami spoke about the work of Jeeyars in north India, especially Lakshmi Prapanna Jeeyar from Buxar in Bihar.
