The Kerala High Court-appointed special investigation team (SIT) probing the Sabarimala gold theft case has reportedly expedited its preliminary inquiry into whether the controversial removal and transport of gold-plated copper overlays embellishing the Dwarapalaka sculptures for “refurbishment” to a metal works company in Chennai in 2025 revealed a cognisable offence, including conspiracy, official corruption and pilferage.

Officials said the SIT has reportedly interviewed several officials, including former Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) president P.S. Prasanth, as part of its inquiry.
