Former Kerala High Court judge S. Siri Jagan

S. Siri Jagan, former judge of the Kerala High Court, passed away here on Saturday. He was 74.

He was battling cancer for some time, and the death occurred around 9.30 p.m at Lisie Hospital in the city, according to the hospital authorities.

A native of Mayyanad, Kollam, he had graduated in LLB from Government Law College, Thiruvananthapuram, and completed LLM from Cochin University of Science and Technology. He was appointed judge of the Kerala High Court in February 2005. He retired from service in January 2014.

Mr. Siri Jagan was serving as chairperson of the Sabarimala high-power committee appointed by the Kerala High Court and as chairman of the Supreme Court-appointed committee to adjudicate compensation for victims of dog bites.

He had also served as the acting Vice-Chancellor of the National University of Advanced Legal Studies, Kochi. He is survived by wife Jayalakshmi and daughters Jesny and Roshny, according to a communication.

The cremation will be held at the Ravipuram crematorium at 4 p.m. on Sunday.
