A Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) driver who attempted self-immolation amid the ongoing RTC employees’ strike succumbed to burn injuries on Thursday, triggering tension in Narsampet town as well as in Warangal.

The deceased, K. Shankar Goud (54), a native of Narsampet and attached to the local depot, allegedly poured petrol on himself and set himself ablaze in front of the depot earlier in the day. Colleagues rushed to his rescue, doused the flames and shifted him to a nearby hospital before he was referred to the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial (MGM) Hospital in Warangal.
