A Railway Protection Force (RPF) constable at Erode railway station saved the life of a young woman who slipped while trying to board a moving train on Monday (October 27, 2025) night.

The incident took place around 9 p.m. on platform no. 3 when Train No. 22650 Yercaud Super Fast Express, bound for Chennai Central, had just started moving. A 20-year-old woman passenger, who arrived late, attempted to board the train while it was in motion. She lost her balance and slipped, getting trapped between the platform and the train.

Alert passengers screamed for help as the woman was dragged along the platform. RPF constable Jagadeesan, who was on patrol duty nearby, reacted swiftly and rushed to pull her to safety, preventing a major tragedy. The woman escaped with minor injuries and was given first aid.

Jagadeesan also advised the passenger against attempting to board or alight from moving trains. His prompt action was widely praised by fellow passengers and the public.

The dramatic rescue was captured on the station’s CCTV cameras, and the footage has since gone viral on social media. Erode railway officials have lauded the constable for his presence of mind and dedication to duty, noting that his quick response helped avert a possible fatal accident.
