A rehearsal for the Cauvery Aarti ceremony was held at Krishnaraja Sagar (KRS) near Mysuru on Wednesday evening in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, legislators from Mandya district, and other senior officials.

Mr. Shivakumar, who arrived in Mysuru on Wednesday, inspected the venue at KRS’ Brindavan Gardens, where the symbolic aarti is scheduled to be held between September 26 and 30.

“The Deputy Chief Minister examined the stage, the location where the Cauvery Aarti will be performed, and the seating arrangements for visitors. He instructed officials to ensure that the programme is conducted without any shortcomings,” said a statement issued by the authorities.

Chairman of Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) Ram Prasad Manohar explained the outline of the Cauvery Aarti ceremony, while Mr. Shivakumar watched the rehearsal for the event.

During the inspection, Ramesh Bandisidde Gowda, MLA for Srirangapatna; Dinesh Gooli Gowda, MLC; P. Ravikumar, MLA for Mandya; Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Mandya; K.R. Nandini, Mandya Zilla Panchayat CEO; Mallikarjun Baladandi, Superintendent of Mandya district Police; and other officials were present.

Speaking to reporters earlier, Mr. Shivakumar said that there is no opposition from farmers to the Cauvery Aarti programme, “which is being held to worship and revere Mother Cauvery for the well-being of the farmers.”
