Theatre repertoire Rangayana will conduct a month-long weekend theatre festival from November 30. This is a precursor to silver jubilee celebrations of its flagship presentation Bahuroopi national theatre festival which will be held in January 2026.

Satish Tiptur, director, Rangayana, said the weekend theatre festival will feature plays by different Rangayana repertoires in the State.

Furnishing details of the play, Mr. Tiptur said the weekend theatre festival will be inaugurated on November 30, with a play “Gulamana Swatantrya Yatre” by Karkala Rangayana. It will be followed by “Mahatmara Baruvigagi”, also by Karkala Rangayana, on December 1.

On December 7, Mysuru Rangayana will stage the play My Family, while on December 14, the Shivamogga Rangayana artists will stage ‘’Nammolaobba Gandhi’’.

The play Prati Gandharva will be performed by Davangere Rangayana on December 21, and on December 28, “Kandagalla Bharata” will be performed by Dharwad Rangayana, directed by Prakash Garud.

On January 4, 2026, the play Kalachakra will be performed by Kalaburagi Rangayana and it will be directed by Hulugappa Katti Mani.

The venue for all the plays is Bhoomigeetha in the Rangayana complex and the plays will commence at 6.30 p.m.

Mr. Tiptur said it is for the first time that a theatre festival featuring only plays by Rangayana was being held. “Through this, we are building up the ambience and vibe for Bahuroopi the details of which will be announced in due course,” he added.

The theme of Bahuroopi 2026 will be Babasaheb, and the theatre festival will commence in the second week of January 2026, according to Mr.Satish Tiptur. The government has released ₹1 crore as grant for the 25 years of Bahuroopi, he added.

Mallikarjun Swamy, deputy director, Department of Kannada and Culture, was present. The poster for the forthcoming weekend festival was also released on the occasion.
