The protest planned by the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) owing allegiance to its founder S. Ramadoss in Chennai on December 2, opposing the Election Commission of India’s decision to recognise Anbumani Ramadoss as the party president, has been postponed due to weather conditions. A party statement noted, a holiday has been declared for educational institutions in Chennai in view of the rain forecast on Tuesday.

Given the challenges posed by the weather, PMK leaders have decided to postpone the protest until further notice. The protest was called by Mr Ramadoss in response to the Election Commission of India’s official notification affirming that his estranged son, Anbumani, remains the president of the party.

Dr. Ramadoss, on Sunday (November 30, 2025), strongly condemned the EC’s decision, accusing the commission of siding with Dr Anbumani in what he described as a “betrayal.” The new date for the protest will be announced by the party once the weather improves.
