City-based NGO Vibrants of Kalam held a rally to instil patriotism and raise awareness among the youth on the ill-effects of drug usage on Prakasam Barrage in Vijayawada on Saturday.

Vijay Kalam, the organisation founder, called the rally ‘Dandi March 2.0’, and urged every citizen to participate in the rally to spread the message about drug abuse. The participants carried a 1.2-km long national flag as part of the initiative.

Inspired by Mahatma Gandhi’s Dandi March, held on March 12, 1930, the organisers are planning a Statewide drive, where rallies will be held in 100 Assembly constituencies. Hundreds of youth are expected to participate in these events.

Participating in the event, Mr. Vijay Kalam said drugs do not destroy just one individual, but an entire family.
