Union Minister of State for Railways V. Somanna has directed railway officials to complete 32 ongoing Road Over Bridge (ROB) and Road Under Bridge (RUB) projects in the Tumakuru Lok Sabha constituency by 2026-27.

On June 9, Mr. Somanna reviewed the progress of railway projects in Bengaluru and Tumakuru constituencies during a meeting with Chief Administrative Officer Ajay Sharma, and senior officials of the Construction wing of South Western Railway.

According to SWR, the 32 ROB and RUB projects are in various stages of execution. Major projects are underway at Panditanahalli, Maidala, Baddihalli, Batavadi, Heggere, Mallasandra, Benchegere, Nittur–Mysuru, Nandihalli Gate, and key railway crossings on BH Road towards Hassan and Bidiregudi.

The Minister reviewed new infrastructure, including RUBs and pedestrian subways at Hale Shettihalli Gate, Bandihalli Road Gate, Donnere Gate, D. Rampura Gate and Badenahalli Gate, and instructed officials to expedite the commissioning of remaining ROBs, RUBs and Foot Over Bridges.

He reviewed the status of work on the 191-km Tumakuru–Chitradurga–Davangere railway line, estimated to cost ₹1,801 crore. More than 92% of the required land has been acquired, and the project is targeted for completion by February 2028.

Officials informed the Minister that 83 km of the 206-km Tumakuru–Rayadurg railway line has been commissioned, while land acquisition for the remaining section has crossed 97%.

Mr. Somanna directed officials to coordinate with the government of Karnataka and the district administration to expedite land acquisition, shifting of utilities and statutory clearances to ensure timely completion of all projects.
