The Manipur Public Service Commission (MPSC) on Sunday (November 9, 2025) cancelled two question papers after a mix-up during the Manipur Civil Services Combined Competitive (Mains) Examination 2022.

Candidates at two centres–Imphal and Guwahati–were left confused when they received the General Studies-IV question paper instead of General Studies-III. The MPSC cancelled the two papers as soon as the goof-up was detected.

The Commission assured the candidates that the new dates for the General Studies papers would be finalised soon.

Frustrated by the administrative blunder, the candidates requested the MPSC to ensure fairness and transparency in the rescheduled exams. Many of them had travelled long distances to reach the two centres.

The Thadou Students’ Association (TSA) condemned the MPSC for its “gross negligence” in conducting the Mains examination.

“Such repeated administrative blunders reflect the Commission’s incompetence and disregard for due process, further eroding public confidence and credibility,” the association stated, demanding a public apology and an official clarification from the MPSC.

The association also sought a high-level inquiry into the goof-up to fix responsibilities.

The MPSC has been in a similar situation in the past. The High Court of Manipur quashed the 2016 exam conducted by the Commission due to irregularities in the selection process.
