NTR District Collector G. Lakshmisha said that everyone has to work for progress without distinctions of caste, creed, religion, or region, and move forward on the path of development, inspired by the sacrifices of great leaders.
Participating in the district-level celebrations of the 77th Republic Day at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation (IGMC) Stadium in Vijayawada on Monday, Mr. Lakshmisha appealed to the public to work together for development and welfare of the district.
Listing out the district’s developments, the Collector said that a plan is being implemented to achieve an annual growth rate of 18.5% across all sectors in the district. With a score of 83 across 315 key performance indicators, the district has secured first place in the State, he said.
Under the Ratan Tata Innovation Hub (RTIH) and spoke model at Enikepadu, emerging technologies such as AI, Quantum Valley, Agritech, Health Tech, Food Tech, and Edu Tech are being promoted, the Collector said. He added that projects worth nearly ₹42 crore have been launched in Vijayawada Central, Mylavaram, and Jaggayyapeta constituencies.
The Collector also mentioned the Rural Incubation, Skilling and Entrepreneurship (RISE) Centre, established at Guntupalli in Ibrahimpatnam mandal under NITI Aayog, as part of which efforts are under way to train 5,000 women in the district as entrepreneurs.
Under Navodaya 2.0, special awareness programmes were conducted in 26 illicit-liquor-affected villages, the Collector said, adding that alternative livelihoods worth ₹96 lakh have been arranged for 88 people. Efforts are also under way to make NTR district drug-free through coordination among departments and NGOs, he added.
Later, the Collector handed over certificates of appreciation to district and municipal officials for rendering outstanding services in the discharge of duties.
District Police Commissioner S.V. Rajasekhar Babu, Joint Collector S. Ilakkiya, Vijayawada Municipal Corporation Commissioner Dhyana Chandra H.M. and others participated in the event.
