A Police Sub Inspector (PSI) attached to High Grounds Police Station has been suspended after he allegedly released a suspect without inquiry.

The police on special drive detained the suspect and brought him to the station for inquiry. The accused officer, who was at the station, allegedly released him without conducting any inquiry or collecting any documentation from him.

The incident came to light when senior officials returned from the special drive and inquired to find that the suspect had already been released. The matter was brought to the notice of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), and the issue was escalated to the Commissioner. Taking strong objections to his alleged behaviour, the PSI was suspended for dereliction of duty and a Departmental Enquiry (DE) was ordered against him.

This is the sixth police officer who has been suspended in the past week. Koramangala and Halasuru Gate inspectors were among the five police personnel suspended for corruption charges and dereliction of duty recently.
