The Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) and the People Against SIR platform have called for protests across the country on Friday (October 23, 2026) against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), demanding the restoration of voting rights of those deleted from electoral rolls and the removal and prosecution of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

The protests will be held at district and tehsil headquarters, state capitals and in Delhi, where People Against SIR has called for a march to the Election Commission’s office, according to the organisers.

Ahead of the protest, the Delhi Police issued a traffic advisory stating that there will be diversions from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. near Bangla Sahib Gurudwara and Jantar Mantar.

Earlier, the SKM has written to President Droupadi Murmu that Mr. Kumar has violated his constitutional pledge and must be prosecuted. Various trade unions and civil society organisations have pledged support to the farmers’ march.
