As Karnataka is facing the peak summer heat, Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj and IT and BT Priyank Kharge on Wednesday directed Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of all zilla panchayats to take urgent and proactive measures to ensure that no village faces a shortage of drinking water during the summer months.

Chairing a videoconference from Bengaluru with ZP CEOs across the State, the Minister reviewed the preparedness of districts to address drinking water requirements and instructed officials to strictly adhere to the guidelines already issued to prevent any disruption in rural water supply. He noted that special funds have been released to districts to manage summer exigencies and emphasised that there should be no lapses in implementation.
