The Telangana Prisons Department stall at Numaish 2026 recorded total sales of ₹25.43 lakh in the first 18 days of the exhibition, surpassing the full-season figures of the previous two years.

Director General (DG) of Prisons and Correctional Services Soumya Mishra visited the stall on January 18 and reviewed sales, product range and public response.

From January 1 to January 18, the stall recorded 4,450 purchase transactions from 19,990 visitors. The total sales for the entire exhibition period in 2025 were ₹23.64 lakh and ₹20.96 lakh in 2024.

Weaving and handloom products accounted for 40% of the sales, followed by home care products at 11%, durries at 10%, carpentry products at 8%, honey and agricultural products at 7% each, steel products at 5% and other items at 12%.

The DG later held a meeting with the exhibition organisers to discuss coordination and visitor engagement.

Prison honey, introduced this year, contributed 7% to the total turnover during the first 18 days. All products were supplied in eco-friendly paper bags made from recycled newspapers by prisoners.

The visit was attended by Inspector General of Prisons N. Murali Babu, Superintendent of Central Prison (Hyderabad) N. Shivakumar Goud, Assistant Director of Industries S. M. Khalid Akther, and other senior officers and staff.
