Ahead of the presentation of the Andhra Pradesh Budget for the 2026–27 financial year in the forthcoming Legislative Assembly session, Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav and Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha held a review meeting with the senior police and Home Department officials at the Secretariat in Amaravati on Wednesday.

The meeting focussed on assessing the financial requirements of the Home Department to strengthen law and order across the State. Detailed discussions were held on budgetary allocations needed for police infrastructure development, modernisation initiatives, and manpower requirements.

Senior officials briefed the Ministers on the proposals for upgrading the police stations, enhancing surveillance and communication systems, and deploying modern technological tools to improve operational efficiency. Issues related to personnel strength and administrative support were also discussed, keeping in view the emerging law-and-order challenges.

The Ministers emphasised the need for a robust Home Department to ensure public safety and internal security. They assured officials that the government would accord priority to the Home Department while finalising the budget allocations.

Finance Department Secretaries Vinay Kumar and Ronald Ross, Joint Secretary Gautham Allada, Home Department Secretary Vijay Kumar, Additional Director-General of Police Madhusudhan, Inspector-General Ravi Prakash, and other senior officials attended the meeting.

The review forms part of the government’s pre-Budget consultations aimed at aligning departmental priorities with fiscal planning for the 2026–27 financial year.
