The police monitored security arrangements through CCTVs on the first day of Dasara utsavams at Sri Durga Malleswara Swamyvarla Devastanam and other areas in Vijayawada on Monday (September 22, 2025).

As many as 51,000 devotees had darshan of the deity up to 7 p.m. on the first day and the darshan time was approximately 35 minutes after entering the queue lines, the police said.

A team of officers, including Police Commissioner S.V. Rajashekara Babu, Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs), Additional DCPs, Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) and others were monitoring security from the Command Control Centre and the Model Guest House.

Police personnel were deployed along the queue lines, parking places, bathing ghats, holding areas and other points. “If there are any problems in the queue lines and at the holding areas, police posted there are requested to bring the issues to the notice of the officers monitoring at the Model Guest House or at the Command Control Centre, who will discuss and solve them immediately,” an officer monitoring the situation at the centre told The Hindu.
