Bagalkot Police have registered a case against some people on the charge of putting up a poster that can create fear among the general public and is likely to disturb communal harmony.

The names of some of the accused were given as Jafar Hanamasagar, a resident of Matan Market, and Ismail Bagewadi, while others are yet to be identified.

The poster was put up during the Id Milad procession. The case was registered on a complaint by Nagesh Ishappa Ambiger of Bagalkot.

The case is under investigation. Efforts are being made to identify the role of the other accused.

Strict legal action will be taken against those who attempt to create communal disturbance, police officers said.

Police officers have appealed to the public to maintain peace and harmony and not to be misled by rumours and to immediately report any information related to this case to the nearest police station.
