The Tamil Nadu police on Thursday (November 13, 2025) informed the Madras High Court that it had provided two armed security guards to Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) MLA R. Arul, who was subjected to an attack allegedly by the supporters of Anbumani Ramadoss on November 4.

Appearing before Justice A.D. Jagadish Chandira, Additional Public Prosecutor K.M.D. Muhilan said, the two gunmen had been provided in view of the attack, and that a decision on continuing the security would be taken only by the security review committee after assessing the threat perception.

However, since the MLA had approached the court seeking a direction to provide round-the-clock police protection for a period of one year, the judge asked the APP to file the response of the Police Department in writing by November 20.
