Prime Minister Narendra Modi has significantly reduced his convoy size. This change was implemented during his recent domestic visit. The reduction in vehicles was done while maintaining essential security components as per the Special Protection Group (SPG) protocol.

According to sources, the convoy size was reduced in Gujarat and Assam immediately after his speech in Hyderabad. PM has also asked for the inclusion of Electric Vehicles in his convoy, where possible, without doing new purchases.

Sources further said that while the convoy size was reduced, all critical security components continued to remain in place in accordance with SPG guidelines to ensure the Prime Minister’s safety.

“PM Modi has also directed officials to include Electric Vehicles (EVs) in his convoy wherever feasible, without making any new purchases,” sources added.

The move comes in line with the Prime Minister’s “seven appeals” to citizens to contribute towards economic resilience by reducing dependence on imported fuel and adopting environmentally sustainable alternatives.

Addressing a gathering in Secunderabad on Sunday (May 10, 2026), PM Modi stressed that patriotism in present times extends beyond defending the nation at the borders and includes responsible behaviour in everyday life.

“Patriotism is not only about the willingness to sacrifice one’s life on the border. In these times, it is about living responsibly and fulfilling our duties to the nation in our daily lives,” the Prime Minister had said.
