PM Modi receives call from Armenia PM, thanks him for helping evacuation of Indians from Iran

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday (June 24, 2026) received a phone call from his Armenia counterpart Nikol Pashinyan whom he thanked for facilitating the evacuation of Indian nationals stranded in Iran following the recent developments in West Asia.

Mr. Modi also congratulated Mr. Pashinyan on the victory of his Civil Contract Party in the country’s parliamentary elections and said India looks forward to working closely together to take India-Armenia relations to new heights.

“Earlier today, I was delighted to receive a phone call from Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. Congratulated him and his party on their victory in the recently held Parliamentary elections in Armenia,” he said in a post on ‘X’.

Mr. Modi said he thanked Armenia PM for facilitating the evacuation of Indian nationals stranded in Iran following the recent developments in West Asia.

“We reaffirmed our shared commitment to further strengthen our warm and multifaceted partnership across key sectors, including trade, defence, technology and people-to-people ties. We look forward to working closely together to take India-Armenia relations to new heights,” he said.

On June 8, in a message, Mr. Modi had congratulated Mr. Pashinyan on the victory of his party in the country’s parliamentary elections.

Prime Minister Pashinyan had claimed victory in a general election as preliminary results showed his governing Civil Contract Party came first with 49.81% of the vote.
