In a crackdown on narcotics-related offences, the Andhra Pradesh government invoked the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT NDPS) Act against a woman offender in Guntur district, marking the first such instance involving a woman, police said on Friday (April 24, 2026).

According to a press release issued by Guntur district Superintendent of Police Vakul Jindal, the action was taken against Valluri Nagamani, 26, a resident of Tadepalli town. She was allegedly involved in repeated illegal procurement, storage, transportation, and sale of ganja. She has four cases registered against her, and over 5kg of ganja was seized in connection with these offences, he added.
