Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav on Wednesday flagged off the Har Ghar Tiranga rally organised by the Central Bureau of Communication (CBC) under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on the Beach Road as part of programmes marking 12 years of the NDA government. National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets from various colleges, along with Revenue Minister Anagani Satya Prasad, participated in the march carrying a 200-foot-long National Flag.

He also inaugurated the two-day photo exhibition ‘12 Years of Development: Marching Ahead on the Path of Progress’. The exhibition showcases photographs and information on the Centre’s flagship schemes, policies and developmental initiatives across sectors, besides highlighting efforts to transform Visakhapatnam into a major investment destination and the economic capital of Andhra Pradesh.

The Health Minister later inaugurated PIB Vartalap, a one-day media outreach workshop organised by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), Vijayawada Regional Office, for district and rural journalists.

Addressing journalists, Mr. Satya Kumar said the media played an important role in nation-building. He said the objective of PIB Vartalap was to ensure that information on welfare schemes and developmental initiatives of both the Union and State governments reached the people, while enabling journalists to convey public grievances and grassroots concerns to the authorities.

Referring to the Centre’s initiatives over the past 12 years, Mr. Kumar stated that youth-focused initiatives such as the Skill Development Mission and Startup India programmes had generated employment opportunities.

“Youth play the most important role in nation-building,” he said.

PIB Director G. Suresh Kumar said the bureau served as a vital link between the government and journalists by providing authentic and timely information. Senior officials from various Central government departments also addressed the workshop.

Defence Public Relations Officer Sujit Reddy spoke on communication in defence and national security, and Additional Commissioner of Customs N. Balaram discussed the role of Customs in trade facilitation and economic development, while South Coast Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Balaji Kiran outlined recent initiatives by the Railways.
