The Youth Congress (YC) workers on Thursday (October 30) took out a march to the house of Vadakara Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) R. Hariprasad at Naduvannur, alleging that he had failed to initiate action against a few police officers who were accused of attacking Vadakara MP Shafi Parambil during a recent protest at Perambra.

The activists staged a sit-in on the State highway at Naduvannur after the march and blocked vehicles. They also allegedly attempted to lock horns with the police and cross the police barricades in the area.

Opening the protest, District Congress Committee (DCC) president K. Praveenkumar said some police officers were behaving like goons without initiating action against criminals involved in attacking a Parliament member. He also said that the Congress would continue with its agitations until the removal of the suspected police officers from their posts.

Mr. Praveenkumar alleged that certain police officers were acting based on the statements of Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] leaders. “Instead of assuring justice, the police were found hunting innocent Congress workers who were injured during the clash,” he said.
