Peddapalli MP Gaddam Vamsi Krishna has amplified the demand by retired workers of the State-owned Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) to raise their monthly pension from ₹500 to ₹10,000.

Mr. Vamsi Krishna was interacting with coal workers during his visit to the 11 incline mine in Godavarikhani of Peddapalli district on Monday. He ventured approximately six km underground, gaining first hand insight into the workers’ performance, safety protocols and coal production processes.

He made an on-the-spot assessment of safety measures, emergency procedures and working conditions of coal workers during his inspection of the underground mine.

The workers raised several pressing concerns with the MP, including their long pending demands for raising of pension, setting up of a medical board and exempting them from income tax, among others.

Highlighting his advocacy in Parliament, Mr. Vamsi Krishna recalled his demand for a ₹10,000 pension for Singareni retired workers, a matter he had raised on the floor of the House and with both Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

He reiterated his commitment to raise their issues in Parliament and strive to ensure their welfare.

He also promised to make concerted efforts to ensure that the dream of Singareni workers to own houses was fulfilled.

The MP asked the officials to implement robust safety measures particularly for women workers in coal mines.
