Pay-and-park facilities will be set up in 23 corridors across Bengaluru, including stretches in and around the Central Bengaluru district, said M. Maheshwar Rao, Chief Commissioner of the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA).

The selected corridors include Commercial Street, Main Guard Cross Road, Dickenson Road, Shankar Mutt Road, St John’s Road, Vani Vilas Road, DVG Road, Planetarium Road, Vasavi Temple Road, and Millers Road, among others.

Mr. Rao said the bids would be opened on Saturday in six packages. He added that the move is aimed at generating revenue for the newly formed city corporations.

“In the first phase, we have called tenders for 23 corridors, and, based on the success of this initiative, we will extend the plan,” he said. The selected corridors fall under the central, south, east and west corporations. The north corporation is also expected to float tenders soon, according to GBA sources.

B to A Khata

Mr. Rao also noted that about 5,000 applications have been received for B to A Khata conversion. Around seven lakh properties have been identified as having B Khata within the GBA jurisdiction. “The conversion process will pick up speed in two to three weeks, and more applications are expected after that,” he said.

In a separate meeting, Mr. Rao directed officials of the South City Corporation to identify government land encroached upon within the GBA limits and initiate the process to reclaim it. He also noted that 23 lakes under the South City Corporation have been encroached upon and that notices have been issued to clear them. He directed officials to immediately commence the work.
