Senior Congress leader and former Rajya Sabha member K.V.P. Ramachandra Rao has objected to Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan‘s remarks on former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy made during the Telangana Formation Day speech.
In a letter released on Thursday, Mr. Rao said that Mr. Pawan Kalyan appeared to be making allegations against YSR without evidence.
YSR and the YSR Congress Party should not be viewed as one and the same, he said, and accused Mr. Pawan Kalyan of making inaccurate claims.
Referring to the JSP chief’s assertion that a senior police officer had informed him of an alleged conspiracy against him during YSR’s tenure, Mr. Rao said there was no evidence to that effect.
He said during 2005–06, when YSR and the Congress party enjoyed immense public support in unified Andhra Pradesh, there was no political necessity to target Mr. Pawan Kalyan, who was not actively involved in politics at the time. He said that Mr. Pawan Kalyan’s claim was unrealistic and unsupported by facts.
