A 39-year-old man undergoing treatment for drug addiction was murdered at a rehabilitation centre in Miyapur on Wednesday (September 24, 2025) night.

The victim, identified as Sandeep from Piduguralla in Palnadu district of Andhra Pradesh, had been admitted to the Rapha Rehabilitation Centre in Miyapur for the past eight months.

Police said he was attacked by two fellow patients, identified as Adil from Nalgonda and Suleman from Barkas, who had been at the facility for about a month.

“A fight broke out between the three late in the night, during which Adil and Suleman attacked Sandeep, leading to his death,” Miyapur Police Inspector P. Shiva Prasad explained.

Staff at the centre alerted the police, who rushed to the spot.

A case was booked under the Section 103 (1) (punishment for murder) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 and the accused were taken into custody. The body has been sent to Gandhi Hospital for postmortem examination. Further investigation is underway.
