Panchayat first premiered on April 3, 2020. On the show’s sixth anniversary, the makers shared an update that fans had been waiting for. Prime Video confirmed that filming for Panchayat Season 5 has officially begun. Along with the announcement, new photos from the set surfaced, featuring Jitendra Kumar, Sanvikaa and the rest of the cast, offering a small but exciting glimpse into the next chapter.
Panchayat Season 5 shoot begins
The timing of the announcement feels deliberate. Over the years, Panchayat has quietly grown into one of India’s most loved shows, building its audience season by season. Season 4, especially, pushed that connection further. The series was announced at the Prime Video’s line-up slate. The caption read: “6 years of being in Phulera and never wanting to leave #PanchayatOnPrime, New Season, Now Filming.” Take a look:
How did Panchayat Season 4 end?
Panchayat Season 4 did not end gently. It left its characters at uncertain crossroads. Jitendra Kumar, played by Sachiv Ji, was seen thinking about his next step after his CAT results, Manju Devi (Neena Gupta) was seen dealing with a difficult electoral loss, and Pradhan Ji was still absorbing what had just unfolded. The story didn’t close, it paused.
Season 5 is set to pick up from that exact moment. The makers are expected to carry forward the same mix that has worked so well so far, a balance of everyday humour, emotional undercurrents, and the unpredictability of village life. The tone remains rooted, but the stakes feel a little higher this time.
Panchayat Season 4: Cast and crew
Panchayat continues under The Viral Fever, with Deepak Kumar Mishra and Chandan Kumar at the helm as creators. Chandan Kumar has written the new season, with Mishra returning as director. The familiar cast is back too, including Jitendra Kumar, Neena Gupta, Raghubir Yadav, Faisal Malik, Chandan Roy, Sanvikaa, Durgesh Kumar, Sunita Rajwar, and Pankaj Jha.
