Vizianagaram Superintendent of Police A.R. Damodar on Saturday (August 22, 2026) asked all Station House Officers and other personnel to adopt friendly policing concept to enable common people to come forward to the police stations over their grievances without fear and tension.

Speaking to The Hindu here, Mr. Damodar said that the department had made over 1,100 officials including DSPs, Circle Inspectors, Sub Inspectors , Head Constables, Constables to have direct and informal interaction with common people couple of days ago under ‘Mega Palle Nidra’ programme.

Mr. Damodar also had a direct interaction with people in Kapusambham village of Garividi mandal of Vizinaagaram district. As many as 305 villages were covered under this programme, according to him.

“Under this concept, the officials will stay in villages during night times and initiate talk with elderly people, women, college students and others. The people who have fear to come police station can freely explain their issues. Law and order issues, thefts, domestic violence and other subjects can be discussed in a lighten vein mode with the people. The officials have been asked to continue Palle Nidra programme for every fortnight to resolve local disputes on the spot. It will prevent police cases easily,” said Mr. Damodar.
