AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Saturday criticised the approach of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK)-led government in seeking to negotiate the payment of solatium to the kin of two persons who reportedly died in custody.

In a statement, Mr. Palaniswami said this had saddened people of the State as Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay had taken charge only two months ago. Advising him not to adopt a “hands-off approach” towards matters of governance, he said Mr. Vijay should run the government in such a manner as to not disappoint the people, even if he had not been able to bring in any change.

The AIADMK general secretary reviewed the performance of the party in the Nilgiris, Karur, and Virudhunagar districts. He also announced that the State secretary of the Amma Peravai, R.B. Udhaya Kumar will commence the district-wise review of the working of the unit from July 25. This would go on till April 17, 2027.
