Over 5,100 people have been rescued and treated under the Innuyir Kaapom – Nammai Kaakum 48 scheme for road accident victims in Kallakurichi district.

The scheme, which provides free treatment in the first 48 hours of a road accident, has been crucial in reducing the number of accident-related casualties in Kallakurichi, according to the district administration.

During a review meeting, Collector M.S. Prasanth said these efforts have so far amounted to ₹4.01 crore in cumulative treatment costs. In Kallakurichi, the scheme is implemented in the Kallakurichi Government Medical College and Hospital.
